Government Launches Rs. 5,659 Crore Cotton Productivity Mission

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the Cotton Productivity Mission, aimed at revitalizing India's cotton sector. The mission, spearheaded by Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, intends to boost productivity, farmers' income, and ensure quality cotton supply, aligning with the 5F vision linking agriculture to the textile industry. A total of Rs. 5,659.22 crore is allocated, focusing on research and extension activities across 140 districts. In addition, cooperation with SCO member countries will enhance safe agricultural trade.
