Government of India Approves Replacement of Fishing Boats and Trawlers

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has implemented the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an investment of ₹20,050 crore to support traditional fishermen in acquiring deep-sea fishing vessels and replacing boats and nets. Over the last five years, approvals have been granted for 50 deep-sea vessels and 500 replacement boats in Tamil Nadu, along with support for fish feed mills and kiosks. The initiative aims to provide livelihood and nutritional support to nearly 30 lakh fishermen across India.
