Government of India Boosts Women-Led Fisheries with Major Financial Support

The Government of India has approved significant financial support for the Sri Sengazhaneeramman Fisherwomen Cooperative Society in Puducherry under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This includes a ₹72 lakh subsidy for a Deep-Sea Fishing Vessel and an ₹88 lakh term loan from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). This initiative is part of a broader strategy to empower fisheries cooperatives, expand deeper fishing capabilities, and enhance the Blue Economy.
