Government of India's Digital Initiatives in Water and Sanitation Missions

The Government of India, alongside various State governments, has launched digital initiatives to bolster its Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin (SBM-G) that aim for comprehensive water provision and sanitation in rural areas. These include Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) portals, mobile apps for geo-tagging sanitation assets, and online dashboards to track progress. The JJM focuses on ensuring tap water reaches all rural households while also monitoring water quality through a dedicated online portal. The SBM-G initiatives aim to eliminate open defecation by facilitating the construction of individual household latrines (IHHL) and community sanitary complexes, also incorporating solid and liquid waste management.
