Government of India's Strategy Against Left Wing Extremism Yields Results

The Government of India has been actively implementing a comprehensive National Policy and Action Plan since 2015 to tackle Left Wing Extremism (LWE). This includes security enhancements, infrastructure development, and financial intervention in affected regions. Measures such as deploying police forces, constructing fortified police stations, and opening schools and skill centers in these areas, have led to a significant reduction in LWE incidents and improved security. As a result, the number of Naxal-affected districts has drastically reduced from 126 in 2010 to 11 in October 2025, curbing LWE's geographical spread significantly. These efforts are supplemented by initiatives to financially curtail LWE capabilities and continued investment in public infrastructure.
