Government Reaffirms Commitment to Creative Freedom and OTT Regulation

The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to creative freedom while enforcing oversight on OTT platforms through the IT Rules, 2021. A three-tier grievance redressal mechanism has been established to regulate content, and 43 OTT platforms have been blocked for displaying obscene content. Additionally, the government is promoting the AVGC-XR sector through initiatives like the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, which aims to develop a skilled workforce in animation, visual effects, gaming, and extended reality.
