Government Restructures National Horticulture Mission to Boost Agricultural Sector

The Government of India has restructured the National Horticulture Mission, which was initially launched in 2004-05, and subsumed it under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in 2014-15. The mission has been further updated in 2025 to include revised guidelines, expanded domains, and enhanced support for high-value crops and technologies. The government also implements the Market Intervention Scheme to ensure farmers receive fair prices and prevent distress sales. New aspects such as the Price Differential Payment and support for storage of specific crops like tomatoes, onions, and potatoes are included under the scheme.
