Government’s Strategic Initiatives to Ensure Cotton Availability for Textile Sector
The Government of India, through the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), facilitates the availability of cotton for domestic textile industries via a transparent online auction system under its Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations. The annual declaration of MSP aims to protect farmers' interests and sustain cotton production. Additionally, a five-year Mission for Cotton Productivity was launched with a focus on research and development of high-yielding cotton varieties. Investments through the National Food Security Mission and network expansion of CCI centers are ongoing to enhance productivity and streamline procurement.
