Growth of Medical Tourism in India
As of April 2025, India has welcomed 131,856 foreign tourists for medical purposes, representing 4.1% of total foreign tourist arrivals. The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with state governments, is actively promoting medical tourism through various initiatives, including the introduction of e-medical visas for nationals from 171 countries. Gujarat is highlighted for its efforts in marketing wellness retreats and enhancing healthcare services for international patients, contributing to India's health diplomacy.
