GST on Renewable Energy Devices Rationalised to 5%

The GST Council has approved a reduction in GST rates for renewable energy devices from 12% to 5%, aimed at making clean energy more affordable. This reform is expected to lower costs for households, farmers, and industries, saving billions in power procurement and boosting domestic manufacturing. It is projected to create 5–7 lakh jobs in the renewable energy sector and support India's goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while also contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.
