Gyan Bharatam Initiative: A Step Towards Preserving India's Manuscript Heritage
The Ministry of Culture in India has signed MoUs with 17 leading institutions under the Gyan Bharatam initiative, aimed at preserving and revitalizing the nation's manuscript heritage. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasized the importance of making ancient manuscripts accessible to future generations and transforming India into a 'Prāṇamaya Bhārata'—a living repository of knowledge. The initiative includes the establishment of Cluster and Independent Centres focused on various aspects of manuscript preservation, including digitization and outreach, and aims to create a National Digital Repository for global access.
