The Ministry of Culture's Gyan Bharatam Mission, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, has made significant progress in digitizing India's manuscript heritage. Recently, a two-day conservation workshop was held in Lucknow, focusing on preventive and curative conservation methods. With participation from over 40 institutions, the initiative aims to make manuscript conservation an integral part of these institutions. The Mission has also integrated technological advancements for metadata creation and long-term data storage across the National Digital Repository, making over 8 lakh digitized manuscripts available to the public, 1.29 lakh of which are accessible via the Gyan Bharatam Portal.
