ICG Ship Sarthak Visits Chabahar, Iran, Enhancing Maritime Cooperation
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship Sarthak, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, has made its inaugural visit to the strategic Chabahar port in Iran on December 16-19, 2025, as part of an overseas deployment to Gulf countries. This visit aligns with India's maritime outreach under its SAGAR and MAHASAGAR visions, focusing on fostering secure maritime engagements. During the four-day port call, the ship will participate in various professional and community-oriented activities with Iranian maritime agencies, including training on maritime search and rescue and pollution response. These efforts aim to strengthen institutional ties and enhance maritime safety and security in the region. Additionally, the visit features sports activities and environmental initiatives involving the National Cadet Corps, promoting marine awareness and coastal cleanliness. This engagement follows the ship's previous interaction with the Kuwait Coast Guard, highlighting India's growing maritime presence and regional partnerships.
