ICMR Develops Improved Kyasanur Forest Disease Vaccine

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in collaboration with Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) and ICMR-National Institute of Virology (NIV), has made significant progress in developing an improved vaccine for Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD). The vaccine, which is fully indigenous and requires two doses administered 28 days apart, has successfully completed animal testing and has entered Phase I human clinical trials. This initiative is part of the Government of India's commitment to addressing regional health challenges, with particular focus on the Western Ghats states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa, and Maharashtra.
