ICMR Study Finds Cost-Effective TB Treatment in India

An ICMR study indicates that shorter, all-oral regimens for treating multidrug-resistant and rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB) in India are both effective and economical. The six-month BPaL and BPaLM regimens offer significant cost savings and improved health outcomes compared to longer current regimens, encouraging their adoption under the National TB Elimination Programme.
