The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is advancing responsible business practices through research, training, and the National Conference on Responsible Business Conduct (NCRBC). The Companies Act, 2013, lays the groundwork for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, mandating broader responsibilities for companies. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has strengthened ESG oversight by requiring top listed companies to adhere to Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) standards, enhancing transparency and accountability in corporate governance.
