IMD Forecasts Above-Normal Southwest Monsoon Rainfall for 2025

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its updated Long-Range Forecast for the 2025 Southwest Monsoon, predicting seasonal rainfall to be 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA) with a high probability of above-normal rainfall. Central India and the South Peninsular region are expected to see above-normal rainfall, while Northeast India may experience below-normal levels. The forecast also indicates normal to below-normal maximum temperatures across much of India in June 2025, with above-normal minimum temperatures expected in most regions. The IMD will continue to monitor and update forecasts to aid in agriculture and disaster preparedness.
