Impact of Skill India Mission on Employment and Training in India

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in India has made significant strides under the Skill India Mission since its inception in 2015. The mission includes major schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS), aiming to enhance skills and employability across various sectors. With a robust training framework, these initiatives have dramatically increased the percentage of vocationally trained youth, expanded the network of Industrial Training Institutes, and introduced technology-focused training to align with industry demand. Evaluations by NITI Aayog and other bodies have highlighted the mission’s success in improving employment rates and salaries for beneficiaries.
