Implementation of Labour Codes in India

The Central Government of India has pre-published draft rules for the implementation of four Labour Codes, aimed at enhancing worker protection, including for unorganized and gig workers. 32 States/UTs have published their draft rules, while West Bengal and Lakshadweep have not. Key provisions include extending social security benefits to all workers and establishing a Social Security Fund for unorganized and gig workers. No amendments to the Labour Codes are currently proposed, as stated by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje.
