Implementation of Namo Drone Didi Scheme
The Indian government has launched the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme to provide 15,000 drones to Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) with a budget of Rs. 1261 Crores from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The scheme aims to enhance agricultural efficiency, crop yield, and reduce operational costs while empowering women SHGs as drone service providers. Financial assistance of 80% of the drone package cost is provided, along with training for SHG members. A study indicates that drone technology is improving agricultural practices and income opportunities for women in rural areas.
