Implementation of PMFBY Shows Significant Growth in Farmer Enrollment
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), launched in Kharif 2016, has seen a 32% increase in farmer enrollment from 3.17 crore in 2022-23 to 4.19 crore in 2024-25. The scheme aims to provide crop insurance to various farmer categories, including tenant and marginal farmers. The government has implemented several measures to enhance transparency, timely claim settlements, and awareness, including the National Crop Insurance Portal and the Digiclaim Module. New technologies like YES-TECH and WINDS have also been introduced for better yield estimation and weather data collection.
