Implementation Progress and Challenges of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 Discussed in Rajya Sabha
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs reported to the Rajya Sabha that implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 is underway in 20 states and one Union Territory, with a high claim settlement rate of 85.40% as of December 2025. Efforts include establishing dedicated FRA cells and conducting multiple consultations and workshops to address challenges in implementation. Concerns remain, however, regarding claim rejections due to unoccupied land before a set date, duplicate claims, and other reasons. Continuous efforts are being made to safeguard the interests of the Scheduled Tribes.
