Inclusion of Maratha Forts in UNESCO World Heritage Site
The 'Maratha Military Landscapes of India', consisting of 12 Maratha forts, has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris. The forts were recognized under UNESCO's Criteria (iv) and (vi). The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is responsible for the conservation and maintenance of these sites, with allocated funds for the past three years. Currently, properties from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are included in the Tentative List for World Heritage Sites, while Jharkhand has none.
