Increased Expenditure on Security for India's Heritage Sites

The Ministry of Culture has detailed the expenditure over the last three years for securing protected monuments and heritage sites in India. The financial outlay rose significantly, from INR 116.08 crore in 2022-23 to INR 280.52 crore in 2024-25, spent on both private security and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel. No separate budget is allocated solely for security, leading to periodic inspections, installations of CCTV, and coordination with local administrations to ensure safety and preservation. This information was shared by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a session at Rajya Sabha.
