India Accelerates Non-Organic Waste Management Technologies

The Government of India is intensifying efforts to commercialize advanced technologies for non-organic solid waste recycling and management through initiatives like Waste-to-Wealth and Circular Economy. Institutions like the Department of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology are driving these efforts alongside bodies like CSIR. Key projects include ICT–Poly Urja technology for fuel conversion, rare earth element recovery from magnets, and e-waste management solutions. Pilot plants across various states are demonstrating applications such as converting plastic waste to diesel and recycling lithium-ion batteries, with strategic collaborations being implemented nationwide.
