India Achieves 500 GW Non-Fossil Fuel Power Capacity

India has reached a milestone by achieving 50% of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources as of June 2025, surpassing its original target. This accomplishment highlights India's dedication to climate action and sustainable development. The country added a substantial 48,436 MW in renewable energy during 2025, focusing mainly on solar and wind power. The Indian government has implemented various initiatives to further accelerate renewable energy capacity, aiming to achieve 500 GW by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
