India Achieves Historic Milestones in Power Sector

India's power sector has reached two significant milestones: surpassing 500 GW of total installed electricity capacity and achieving over 50% of electricity demand from renewable sources. As of September 30, 2025, the total capacity stands at 500.89 GW, with non-fossil fuel sources accounting for 256.09 GW. This progress highlights India's commitment to clean energy and has resulted in new job opportunities in the sector. The country has also met its COP26 goal of 50% non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, five years ahead of schedule.
