India Achieves Remarkable 21% Reduction in TB Incidence: WHO Report 2025

The WHO Global TB Report 2025 highlights a significant 21% reduction in India's tuberculosis (TB) incidence rate, showcasing a decrease from 237 to 187 per lakh population between 2015 and 2024. This achievement is attributed to enhanced government efforts, including the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to identify undiagnosed cases and prevent new infections. The national campaign employs a comprehensive approach with measures such as screening, free treatment provisions, decentralized services, community awareness, and private sector engagement, resulting in a rise in treatment coverage from 53% to 92%.
