India Advances Green Port and Maritime Infrastructure Efforts

India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is advancing efforts to develop sustainable port operations through the Green Tug Transition Programme and Green Hydrogen Hubs. Major ports like Deendayal and Paradip are integrating renewable energy and zero-emission technologies to reduce carbon intensity. Deendayal Port, for instance, has set up a 1 MW Green Hydrogen plant and developed a jetty compatible with Green Ammonia handling. Paradip Port is slated for a Rs. 797.17 crore investment to support Green Hydrogen and Ammonia operations. These initiatives align with the National Green Hydrogen Mission and aim to position India's ports as leaders in sustainable maritime infrastructure.
