India Allocates Rs 313.43 Crore for Monument Conservation in 2024-25

The Government of India has allocated Rs 313.43 crore for the conservation and restoration of centrally protected monuments/sites in the financial year 2024-25, managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Currently, 3685 monuments come under ASI's jurisdiction, with consistent efforts towards their maintenance using modern tools such as LiDAR mapping and GIS. Over the past five years, there has been a steady increase in expenditure towards conservation efforts, indicating a growing commitment to preserving India's heritage. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture supports intangible cultural heritage and promotes Indian art globally through various programmes.
