India Amends Highways Fee Rules for National Expressways

The Government of India has amended the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008, to allow for lower toll fees on National Expressways that are only partially operational. This amendment aims to encourage the use of National Expressways by charging a reduced fee for the opened stretches, similar to the rates for normal National Highways, to alleviate congestion on parallel routes. The new rules will come into effect on February 15, 2026, and will be valid for one year or until the expressways are fully operational.
