India and Portugal Unite for AI-Led Governance Reforms

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, suggested forming a collaborative working group with Portugal to advance AI-led governance reforms. The initiative focuses on digital pension systems and grievance platforms. This decision came after discussions with Portugal's Minister in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister and of State Reform, Gonçalo Matias, during the AI Impact Summit 2026. India's reforms over the past decade, including scrapping obsolete rules, were highlighted. Both nations agreed on "simplification first, digitalisation next" for effective administrative reforms.
