India Approves Major Fisheries Projects in Tamil Nadu

The Indian government has approved 120 fisheries projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for Tamil Nadu, focusing on socio-economically backward fisher families. The project involves a total cost of Rs.1240.58 crore, with a central contribution of Rs.480.09 crore. Additionally, Rs.222.05 crore have been disbursed for the current fiscal year. Separate funds have been allocated for the Deep Sea Fishing Vessels Project. Progress is being made on the Fish Landing Centre at Thangachimadam, with 70% completion reported.
