India Assesses Water Resources and Implements Solutions
India's Ministry of Jal Shakti released data from its "Assessment of Water Resources of India-2024," emphasizing the annual water availability of the country's river basins estimated at about 2116 BCM. This, alongside ground water assessments which record an annual recharge of 448.52 BCM and an extraction of 247.22 BCM, reveals critical insights into water management. Amidst diverse state endeavors, projects such as Interlinking of Rivers and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna accommodate inter-state water sharing, conservation, and irrigation objectives, particularly supporting regions like Rajasthan through schemes and infrastructural enhancements.
