India Bolsters Shrimp Export Strategies Amid Expanding US Market

India's seafood export sector has seen significant growth, particularly in shrimp exports to the United States. Over the past five years, the quantity and value of shrimp exports have largely remained robust, contributing to an overall 13.93% increase in seafood export value from April to October 2025 compared to the previous year. The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) has been instrumental in this growth, implementing various initiatives like trade delegations and organizing international fairs to diversify markets. Furthermore, financial assistance has been provided to shrimp farmers and exporters through multiple programs. These initiatives include subsidies for laboratory facilities and support for export-oriented value addition projects. Certification programs and training initiatives are also being expanded to assure product quality and compliance with global standards.
