India Boosts Agricultural Self-Reliance with National Missions

The Government of India is advancing several initiatives aimed at boosting the agricultural sector towards self-reliance and global competitiveness. Key programs include the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseeds, which focuses on enhancing domestic oilseed production, and the Oil Palm Mission aimed at reducing imports by covering more areas in 15 states. The government is also intensifying its efforts in pulses production with the Dalhan Atmanirbharta Mission aiming to elevate pulses production to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030. Additional measures to bolster farmers' income involve the promotion of agri-exports, value-added processing units, and the integration of digital marketing platforms like e-NAM. Technology adoption, including agricultural drone usage and training programs, is further supported financially by the government to modernize farming methods.
