India Boosts Defence Manufacturing with New R&D Initiatives

The Indian Government has implemented various strategies to enhance research and development in defence manufacturing. Key initiatives include the Development cum Production Partner model, Transfer of Technology to industries, and the Technology Development Fund to encourage participation from MSMEs and startups. Notably, the DRDO has established over 2000 industry partnerships, facilitated interaction for innovation with the Dare to Dream contests, and opened up world-class R&D test facilities to the private sector. Furthermore, 25% of the Defence R&D Budget has been dedicated to industry, startups, and academia, promoting partnerships and fostering a self-reliant and innovative defence manufacturing ecosystem.
