India Boosts Rural Digital Connectivity with BharatNet and Mobile Projects
The Ministry of Communications has announced significant progress in India's digital connectivity efforts. Under the BharatNet and 4G Saturation projects, over 214,000 Gram Panchayats now have broadband access and nearly 24,000 mobile towers have been installed, enhancing digital access to education, healthcare, and government services in rural areas. To further improve telecom service quality and affordability, the government is implementing policies under the Telecommunications Act 2023 and financial support initiatives like the Digital Bharat Nidhi fund.
