On October 23, 2025, India observed International Snow Leopard Day with the launch of the '#23for23' initiative, encouraging citizens to engage in 23 minutes of physical activity to raise awareness for snow leopard conservation. Union Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav highlighted the success of India's snow leopard conservation efforts, noting the first-ever census recorded 718 individual snow leopards in the Indian Himalayas, with 477 in Ladakh. The initiative reflects India's commitment to the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Programme (GSLEP).
