India Commissions First Unit of Largest Hydropower Project

NHPC Limited has commenced commercial operation of the first unit (Unit 2) of the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, marking a significant milestone in India's renewable energy sector. Union Minister of Power, Shri Manohar Lal inaugurated the operation through a virtual event, highlighting the project's role in advancing India's Net Zero goals and boosting energy supply in North-East India. The project, which features India’s largest dam in the North-East, aims to enhance grid resilience, provide socio-economic benefits, and support sustainable development in the region. Future plans include commissioning additional units in the next phases, contributing extensively to India's green energy capacity.
