India Emerges as a Global Leader in Biomanufacturing
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that India now hosts 21 out of 121 bio-companies worldwide, marking a significant achievement in biomanufacturing. The launch of 21 new BioEnabler facilities aims to position India as a global hub for biotechnology, driving self-reliance, job creation, and reduced import dependence. The initiative is part of the BioE3 policy, which focuses on biotechnology for economic growth, environmental sustainability, and employment. The bioeconomy is projected to grow from $100 billion to $300 billion, with a surge in biotech startups from 50 to over 13,000 in the last decade.
