India Enhances Climate and Weather Services through IMD Initiatives
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is making significant strides in improving India's climate and weather services. The National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS) was launched to provide tailored climate information, supporting decision-making in climate-sensitive sectors. IMD organized stakeholder workshops with various sectors, identifying needs and improving service accessibility. Advances in weather modeling and observation systems, including new Doppler Weather Radars and the Bharat Forecast System, have enhanced forecasting precision across India. Additionally, IMD's collaboration with international agencies and training initiatives bolsters capacity building, furthering India’s role in global climate services.
