India Enhances Global Efforts in AIDS Control on World AIDS Day 2025

On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2025, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda inaugurated the event at Vigyan Bhawan, emphasizing India's substantial achievements in reducing new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths, surpassing global averages. With significant decreases in new infections and enhanced access to treatment, India is on track to meet the global 95-95-95 targets by 2030. Shri Nadda highlighted the sustained political commitment and community engagement as catalysts for progress, alongside launching new multimedia campaigns aimed at increasing youth awareness and reducing stigma. The event underscored India's leadership in supplying affordable, high-quality AIDS medications globally and bolstered efforts through expanded testing and treatment strategies. Additionally, the landmark HIV/AIDS Act of 2014 continues to ensure a discrimination-free environment for people living with HIV in India.
