India Enhances Global Maritime Partnerships and Legislative Reforms
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways detailed India’s proactive approach towards enhancing international collaborations in maritime sectors. India is actively engaging with global partners like Norway, Singapore, Denmark, and Russia to promote port modernisation, shipping infrastructure, and green shipping initiatives. Recent legislative reforms modernizing maritime governance include the Merchant Shipping Act, 2025 and the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025, among others. Noteworthy infrastructural initiatives include the 'One Nation One Port' policy, digitization of ports, and developing green energy hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
