India Expands Cold Chain Infrastructure Under PMKSY

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) in India has been actively developing the cold chain and post-harvest infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). The initiative aims to integrate cold chain solutions and value addition facilities from farm gates to consumers to minimize post-harvest losses. As of now, 404 projects have been approved, with 300 completed. The cold chain scheme involves investments in reefer vans, ripening chambers, pack houses, and cold storages across various states in India. The budget allocations and expenditures for these projects were disclosed by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, highlighting the financial commitment towards enhancing the post-harvest management of agricultural products.
