India Fosters Deep-Sea Fishing with PMMSY and FIDF Schemes

The Government of India is advancing the fisheries sector through its flagship Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF). The collaboration between the Ministry of Cooperation and the Department of Fisheries aims to enhance deep-sea fishing and the marine fisheries value chain. This initiative includes strengthening fishery cooperatives, support for acquiring fishing vessels, and other infrastructure developments to empower fishers and boost the blue economy.
