India Hosts 89th IEC General Meeting, Achieves OIML Certification

India has become the 13th country to issue the OIML pattern approval certificate, marking a significant milestone in legal metrology. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted India's advancements in Digital India, renewable energy, and sustainable technologies during the inaugural address at the 89th International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) General Meeting in New Delhi. He noted that India's inflation is at its lowest in 11 years, with prices monitored through 474 centers. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has expanded its role in nation-building, with nearly 24,000 standards and significant reforms in hallmarking. The event also showcased India's commitment to becoming a global hub for electronics and clean technologies.
