India Introduces First Cooperative-Based Taxi Service 'Bharat Taxi'

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has launched India’s first cooperative-based taxi service, 'Bharat Taxi', aimed at empowering drivers or 'Sarathis'. Under this initiative, Sarathis gain ownership rights, contributing to their economic prosperity and dignity. This model emphasizes ownership, security, dignity, and shared progress, targeting gig workers' welfare. Within a short span, Bharat Taxi has gained significant traction in Delhi and Gujarat, with partnerships reinforcing service expansion and safety, particularly for women through the 'Sarathi Didi' service.
