India Introduces New Criminal Laws for Speedy Trials
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced new criminal laws aimed at expediting judicial processes in India. These laws focus on faster and fair resolutions, limiting the time for different stages of investigation and trial. Key highlights include a two-month deadline for investigating crimes against women and children, provisions for a maximum of two adjournments to prevent delays, and the development of digital applications like e-Summons and e-Sakshya to enhance efficiency. The announcement included state-wise data on cases registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, with a total of 5,132,017 cases recorded between July 2024 and November 2025. These measures aim to improve the speed, efficiency, and transparency of the judicial system.
