India Launches 100-Day Campaign to Eradicate Child Marriage

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in India is set to launch a 100-day campaign, Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat, aimed at eradicating child marriage across the country. Scheduled to start on December 4, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, this initiative marks one year since the launch of the wider Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat initiative. The campaign is structured into three phases: awareness activities in educational institutions, engagement with societal leaders, and mobilizing local governing bodies to commit to being child marriage-free. The event is to be inaugurated by Smt. Annpurna Devi, Union Minister of Women and Child Development, alongside other dignitaries, and aims to rally collective national action against child marriage through collaborative efforts with multiple government ministries and community leaders.
